On a quiet summer’s evening in early July my best friend and I walked up the lane from our home as twilight approached with our ancient little dog ‘Georgie’ – a yorkshire terrier. The lanes around us have magnificent ancient hedgerows full of wild flowers including the honeysuckle, sweetly fragrant in the evening air – and then the hedgerows are punctuated by massive oak trees.
